What has Chris been up to?
I thought I’d give you a quick update of what I’ve been up to over the last couple of weeks…
I’ve been travelling!
I met up with Saj P (Alex Goad’s business partner) and Adeel Chowdhry in London. We brainstormed plenty of IM projects and ideas whilst drinking Starbucks followed by beers! And guess what? Tim Godfrey of Niche Blueprint fame dropped what he was doing and joined us too! Great session in central London.
I’ve also been up to Manchester to meet up with many of my northern JV partners….. Rob Benwell, Chris McNeeney, Ken Oboh, Michael Cheney, Steven Lee Jones, Mo Latif and even Andrew Fox flew over from Belfast for a private IM brainstorming session and plenty of beer flowed that night too! How Foxy got up at 5am to catch his flight back to Belfast is beyond me…

Edinburgh – the captial of Scotland!
I met up with my long-time pal (well over 3 years in IM is long!) John Ward. John’s a great SEO guy and also knows a thing or too about video. More beers.
And, I mustn’t forget my trip to Peckforton Castle in Cheshire where Alan Forest Smith hosted a special entrepreneurs party with a Celtic theme. Yes, I wore a kilt!! Neil Stafford has the photos, so I’m sure he’ll email them to me soon. It was a superb location (where they filmed Robin Hood) which was also enjoyed by my wife and even my 1 year old daughter!

My advice is to really build those relationships with your JV partners and the best way is to get out there and meet them!

I was at Alan’s party at the castle along with 3 lucky mentoring clients of mine. (I too was wearing a kilt and the full regalia – and doing it ‘authentically, if you know what I mean!
)
We didn’t get a chance to hook up and have a chat on the night, but what a blast ey? A fantastic night full of positive, focussed people.
Looking forward to the next one. Maybe next time we’ll be able to grab a beer together and have a chin-wag?

Agreed. We tend to think that because we live in an increasingly electronic age that personal contact is less important.
Fact is that it is MORE important than ever to get out from behind your computer and meet other people and make friends.
Real friends – not Facebook friends!
