Conversions, Conversions, Conversions

I cannot stress enough, the importance of being able to write good copy. The quicker you learn how to write compelling copy, the faster your income will grow.

For example, lets say you’re just getting going, and you’ve put up a website on ballroom dancing. Lets say for every 200 visitors you’re getting to the sales page, you’re making 1 sale. That’s a conversion rate of 0.5%. Now, what if you could make just a few changes and increase your conversion rate to 1%… Do you realize what this means? It means you’ve just doubled your sales.

So, how do you learn to write good copy?

Well, there are hundreds of courses online that will claim to teach you the art of writing good copy – some of these expensive, others not. However, the one resource where I learned an awful lot was a physical book by Maria Veloso entitled “Web Copy That Sells”. You get it from Amazon for less than $10 (second hand).

I can tell you now, that the one common theme you will see in all these copywriting courses is the art of story-telling. Yep, believe it or not everyone loves a good story and if you can interweave a story into your sales letter you will draw your readers in, and they’re eyes will be glued to the screen.

The other way to learn is to copy other people. Now, I don’t mean go out and there and plagiarize their work. That is just plain wrong. However, if you build up your swipe file of great sales letters you come across every day (just do File, Save Page As.. everytime you see a good sales letter) then you will be building up a massive library of resources which you can refer to and get ideas from when you come to write your own copy. Believe me, it’s just what all the pros do.

If you’re really struggling with the copywriting side of things (and let’s face it, it’s not something you can learn overnight), then you may want to consider outsourcing to a professional copywriter. Quick warning, good copywriters are not cheap. In fact, expect to pay anything from $2,000 to $10,000 and upwards for a professional sales letter. Be sure to thoroughly check out any copywriter and ask for references before agreeing a job with them.

However, even if you do decide to outsource the sales letter to a professional copywriter, I firmly believe that you’ve still got to learn the basics of writing good copy for everything else you do in your marketing work.

For example,

Emails which you send to your subscribers
Emails which you send to potential Joint Venture partners
Affiliate resources web pages
Blogs
Articles

Being able to write good copy in everything that you do will certainly put you ahead of your competition. So get learning now, as it’s a life long skill that will make you more and more money, the more you improve.

So, is copywriting the be all and end all of Internet Marketing?
