Step 1: Find Successful Websites Promoting Complementary Products

The first step to forming a relationship with another online marketer is to seek out highly successful websites for products which are related to your affiliate product and will appeal to the same demographic or target audience. It is critical to select a successful website because this will provide you with the most benefit. Look for a website that has a large amount of monthly traffic, provides users with fresh content on a regular basis, has an active message board and is not already overrun with other advertisers.

Step 2: Contact Website Owners Directly

Once you have found a few possible websites you would like to work with, contact the website owner directly with your proposal. It is critical for you to have already done your research by this point so you can present a strong argument for why the other website owner should join forces with you. Specifically, you should be able to tell the other website owner exactly how joining forces with you will benefit him.

Step 3: Agree on a Compensation Plan

There are a number of ways you and the other website owner can work together. The most obvious way to do this is to offer to pay the other website owner for the ability to run your affiliate advertisement on the other website. You can offer monetary compensation to the other website owner in a number of ways. This may be through a set monthly payment or the payment may be based on the number of website visitors who view or access the advertisement.

Another option for offering compensation to another website owner is to offer to run an advertisement for the other website or a product on your own website in exchange for placement of your advertisement on the other website. However, most website owners will not be open to this type of agreement unless you can prove your own website is thriving. This is because most website owners will not be willing to offer you valuable advertising space on their thriving website if you cannot offer them advertising space on a comparable website. For this reason, it is important to compile statistical data demonstrating the popularity of your own website before suggesting this type of agreement.

Step 4: Monitor Your Conversion Rate

If you followed the first three steps, you are probably already working with a website owner who has a high traffic website reaching your target audience. However, this does not guarantee your success. Monitor your conversion rate from this affiliation with the other website. If it is not meeting your needs, either end the agreement or find ways to increase your conversion rate. Some efforts you might take include:

Modifying the copy of your advertisement to better appeal to your target audience

Making efforts to drive traffic to the website

Soliciting feedback from customers

Moving the location of the advertisement on the website

Changing the size and shape of your advertisement

The important idea you should take with you from this section is to not give up. You can do this!

Even the most successful marketers do not only have great success on their first try. If your advertising is not working the way you expected, step back and take another look at the advertisement. Be objective and seek the help of a professional marketer if necessary. Remember, your second attempt at developing an advertisement may be your ticket to the financial success you have always dreamed of enjoying!

A blog is simply a website that will usually ‘provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.’ according to Wikipedia.

Whilst blogs first came into being as online personal diaries, the ones that we are going to concentrate on in this book are those that are used for business of the type that are in fact now the vast majority.

Blogs have many attractions, the main one being their simplicity. Anyone who has the basic ability to use two fingers on a keyboard can begin to create their own blog, and, if you don’t believe me, would the fact that my nine year old son has just started his first blog help prove it?

They can also be updated as often as you like, and many people do update their blogs two or three times a day.

This means that there is a constant stream of fresh new content available on blog sites, which is the reason that blogs are fast becoming the favorite sites of the major search engines, especially Google, itself the #1 search engine.

There is no need to know anything whatsoever about website creation or scripting language to create a blog.

No matter which blogging ‘platform’ (system) you use, it is always a simple question of following a very small handful of simple instructions, and you are good to go.

And, as the Wikipedia definitions suggest, a core function of blog sites is that they invite reader input and feedback in the form of comments.

What a good blog site therefore does is start a ‘conversation’ between the blog site owner and his/her readership.

It has an inherent ability to begin building a relationship centered around a common area of interest, as expressed in the subject matter of the blog itself.

So, in simple terms, if for example you are an avid mountain climber, and start a blog about your hobby, then the chances are very good that most of the people who visit your pages will be interested in climbing mountains too.

So, all you need to do is create articles that are interesting or controversial enough to prompt your readers to comment and you have generated a discussion or debate about a subject that is close to your heart.

And, the point is that you can create your own blog about any topic under the sun, and publish it for the whole world to read literally within minutes of sitting down in front of your PC.

So, let’s extend the idea of creating a blog about mountain climbing to creating one about your business.

It really does not matter what your business, the same ‘rules’ apply – you create your blog, and begin to make ‘postings’, which is a very grandiose way of describing the ability that a blog gives you to basically write whatever you want to.

Let’s imagine a couple of different scenarios.

Situation one is that you own a ‘real world’ business that sells widgets. You have a customer list of people who have bought your widgets before, so you can use your blog as a regular newsletter to which you publish all of your latest special offers, discount deals, news and so on.

It is a fantastic way of keeping in touch with your existing customers and, by publishing regular news bulletins through the company blog site, it offers a way to invite potential new customers to have a look inside your organization too, before they decide whether or not they want to work with you.

Of course, the limitation of using a blog for a real world business selling tangible physical products is that no blog or website can actually deliver the product for you.

However, in situation two, where you are using a blog to promote an online or Internet marketing business, even that can be achieved through your blog site to a certain extent.

Let’s imagine that your business is selling a website traffic generation service to other businesses on the net who want to increase the people that see their own sites.

You can write about all of the latest traffic ideas that you have and promote your services through the blog.

You would also most probably have a ‘buy now’ button featured somewhere very prominently on the front page.

You might also review traffic generation products from other companies, and carry links on your blog that would take the reader directly to the sales page for the product in question, if they have an interest in finding out more.

Although (as Wikipedia points out) blogging was initially a text based publishing medium, it is now increasingly becoming linked to other media, such as video, as well.

So, not only can you write reviews but you can even create short movies to do the same as well, and publish them to your blog (and other places, as we shall see later).

You can create video presentations about your business, your products or basically whatever else you want, and have it out there in front of a potential audience of over 1 billion people in a matter of minutes.

It has been said that there are ‘three cornerstones’ to online success and that they are visitor traffic, visibility and perceived credibility.

This is a critical concept to grasp, and one to which I will return time and again.

A blog site is such a powerful marketing tool because it allows you to address all three of these requirements through the one simple site, as you are just about to discover.

Happy Blogging!

Have you read the newspaper only to get the feeling that the very article that you are reading is already published all over the Internet for a long time?

Those articles are probably taken from article directories from the Internet, and yet it is a viable source for information on any niche!

If you want to drive tons of traffic to your website using a free or low cost way, then article directory submissions are the to go!

Why article marketing is so lucrative is because of the following reasons:

Famous article directories have LOTS of targeted traffic. Thousands of people go to article directories to source for content (e.g. for your local newspaper).

Similar to high traffic blogs, article directories also allow you to brand yourself as an expert.

Some article directories rank high on the search engines – it allows your author bio to rank high on the SERP (search engine result page) and it even passes the PR (page rank) juice to your websites.

Write an article about product or something related to your website. (If you can’t write, don’t worry… you can pay someone as low as $5 to get a quality article written for you).

Once your article is complete, do a search on Google for the search term – “article directory”.

You will find a list of article directories.

Choose one of them and register as an author or an article writer and contribute your article to the directory. It might take a few days or even a week to get an article approved, so make sure you are patient enough to wait.

Once your article is approved, it will remain on the ‘front page’ of that particular niche for a couple of days before it is ‘pushed down’ by newer article submissions.

Rinse And Repeat

One of the advantages of article directory submissions is that you can take the same article and author bio and re-use them over and over again.

What you can do is to ‘cut-and-paste’ the article and post the article to a list of article directories (when in doubt – use Google).

Occasionally, you may find the process too tedious; you can outsource it to someone else for a low price of $27-37 dollars to submit that article for you to a few hundred directories.

If your article is well written, employing this outsourcing method will send a HUGE surge of traffic to your website so you must be prepared. This will not last forever because the articles do not remain on the top page all the time.

Make sure that you are not too ‘sales pitchy’ about your product or your website because some article directories are particular about the quality of the articles. They are after all, looking for quality content, not another sales letter.

Let me know what your thoughts are on this…

I hardly bother with Pay Per Click these days. You know Google Adwords and the like……
Word is getting round some how – Fast!

Let me into a little secret. Have you ever across the site Gather.com?

Some fascinating facts about Gather:

1. Three quarters of its subscribers have
a college education, and are between 30 and 60
years of age.

2. Even more (around 80 percent) have a
household income in excess of $50,000 per year.

3. Gather members have “a great propensity to spend,”
this is according to the site itself.

So these are extremely solid citizens! In fact,
Gather describes itself as “a place where informed,
engaged people share perspectives on everything.”

NB: While Gather isn’t nearly as well-known as some
of the other Social Networking sites, it more than
makes up for this in the quality of targeted traffic
that it offers to the serious Web 2.0′er on a
traffic-building spree!

Gather is just one of those Web 2.0 Power Sites that
has enabled me to bring in as much as $26,356 per month.

And this is without spending a single penny!

http://www.web20stampede.com

If you want more traffic today, I suggest you
sign up to Gather and get some quality content out
there fast! It has to be what people *really* want
though. This is a big mistake, that many marketers miss.

People often ask me what are the biggest mistakes
you see people making when trying to use Web 2.0

And you know what?

These 6 mistakes are always the same…

1. Blasting out hundreds of mediocre articles
in a very short space of time – and then getting
banned from the Online Social Network (OSN)

2. Doing anything that looks like its an Ad.
- Instant turn off!

3. Being too generic with their keywords. For example
using too high level keywords like “golf” rather than
going for the long tail keywords like
“golf tuition in nevada”

4. Having poor content – not enough variety. You need
to keep them interested with text, podcasts, vlogs etc.
Also the content must be relevant – not any old rubbish.

5. Adding too many comments to other people’s blogs
just so you can get a back-link. People see through it
when you have too many comments with very little content.

6. Not asking for feedback from their readers/users.
There are all kind of whizzy solutions such as surveys,
poll boxes, shout boxes. Ask – and find out what they
really want!

So there you go, these are the 6 that
I see over and over again.

I’d love to get your experiences on what mistakes or
obstacles you’ve been facing with trying to implement
Web 2.0. Shoot me over an email or blog comment…
I’m always interested to hear of new experiences (good or bad).

Best,
Chris
