Many people ask me what is the secret to my success?

And everytime I reply, I always say the same thing…

Being part of a MASTERMIND group!

This in itself has so MANY benefits (far too many to mention them all), but probably the single biggest success factor has got to be:

….A Mastermind Group OPENS DOORS!

I have been introduced to so many cool marketers by the people I’ve met through various mastermind groups I attend.

Making these connections has literally changed my life!

In 2009 I made over $600,000 in sales of both my own products and from affiliate promotions.

Now, NO WAY would I have achieved over $600K in sales without the power of my
friends and fellow marketers….. people that I regularly meet at Mastermind events!

Guys like…

* Andrew Fox *
* Michael Cheney *
* Chris Day Job Killer *
* Ken Oboh *
* Alex Jeffreys *
* Gary McGeown *
* Chris Philips *
* Jeremy Gislason *
* Mo Latif *
* Rob Benwell *
* Simon Hodgkinson *
* JP Schoeffel *

and of course many, many other cool guys AND GIRLS ….too numerous to mention!

So, this year… in 2010… I AM going to break the $1 Million barrier!

Yepa, I’m re-branding myself from 6figureswithchris.com to 7figureswithchris.com !!

Before you go, tell me… Would you be interested in joining a Mastermind Group?

Post your comments here if you are interested!

I thought I’d give you a quick update of what I’ve been up to over the last couple of weeks…

I’ve been travelling!

I met up with Saj P (Alex Goad’s business partner) and Adeel Chowdhry in London. We brainstormed plenty of IM projects and ideas whilst drinking Starbucks followed by beers! And guess what? Tim Godfrey of Niche Blueprint fame dropped what he was doing and joined us too! Great session in central London.

I’ve also been up to Manchester to meet up with many of my northern JV partners….. Rob Benwell, Chris McNeeney, Ken Oboh, Michael Cheney, Steven Lee Jones, Mo Latif and even Andrew Fox flew over from Belfast for a private IM brainstorming session and plenty of beer flowed that night too! How Foxy got up at 5am to catch his flight back to Belfast is beyond me…

Birmingham, London, Manchester…… where next, Chris?

Edinburgh – the captial of Scotland!

I met up with my long-time pal (well over 3 years in IM is long!) John Ward. John’s a great SEO guy and also knows a thing or too about video. More beers.

And, I mustn’t forget my trip to Peckforton Castle in Cheshire where Alan Forest Smith hosted a special entrepreneurs party with a Celtic theme. Yes, I wore a kilt!! Neil Stafford has the photos, so I’m sure he’ll email them to me soon. It was a superb location (where they filmed Robin Hood) which was also enjoyed by my wife and even my 1 year old daughter!

Hope you enjoyed this short insight to where I’ve been recently?

My advice is to really build those relationships with your JV partners and the best way is to get out there and meet them!

Talk soon,

Chris

First, you must realize the importance of creating your own inner circle. By this I mean a small group of marketers that you regularly do business with, such as JVs, or sales of products, or affiliate programs.

Now, this can of course extend on some level to your general customers, but you’ve got to separate the two.

Most people reading this blog will be aware of the importance of attracting and maintaining your ‘herd’, your customer list. Back end marketing to your own customer is where you’ll make considerable money, in any business. So why not market to the back ends of other marketers?

Believe me, the capacity of your customers to consume will always far outweigh your ability to create product for them to buy. There will always be a certain number of people on your list, once it’s big enough, who will pretty much send you money whenever you ask for it.

Trouble is, it’s expensive and time consuming to build up a large customer list, even on the Internet

Here’s where joint ventures come in.

You may well have heard about JVs, and the way you can market your products to the people on someone else’s list. But actually going about it and succeeding? There are plenty of products out there designed to tell you what to do, rather than how to do it.

I am here to tell you how to do it…

And you’ll get the most out of this if you follow along, doing all the things we talk about, and by the time we’re done you’ll be so far ahead of 99% of everyone else, you won’t have any competition.

Your first priority when approaching Internet Marketing experts is to be respectful of their time. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be persistent only that you shouldn’t be unprepared, unorganized, or uninformed. This is a terrible way to solicit a potential partnership.

It’s also a good idea if they have at least heard of you before you approach them with a joint venture proposal. So how do you get noticed among the noise of the ‘net?

Internet Marketers are generally sociable people. They make their fortunes by dealing with other people. Whether it is creating products that other people want or developing a knack for selling the products that others have created, the top Internet Marketers deal with people daily.

Where do they find these people?

Internet Marketing gurus find their customers in many of the same places that you find yours. If you haven’t begun finding customers you will want to take a break from your efforts here and put some effort into building your own Internet Marketing skills. Once you’ve done that you will have something to bring to the table when proposing joint ventures.

Getting back to where the big name marketers go to meet people and find customers, you may be surprised. The invention of Web 2.0 has brought about a new era in Internet Marketing. It has opened doors for marketing and networking wider than ever before.

With so many great networking opportunities it is a good idea to explore quite a few of them and how you can use these opportunities to really rub elbows – at least in the virtual sense – with some of the best and brightest Internet Marketers in the business.
A great place to meet fellow marketers is at a Seminar or Workshop. Meeting someone in this way is far better as you can actually “connect” with someone a whole lot easier when you can walk up to them shake their hand, buy them a drink and sit down together to discuss Internet Marketing.

There are so many seminars in the USA and the UK. Other countries do have seminars but not quite on the scale of these two. Search the Net and you will find plenty, but as a guide you can try:

Big Seminar
JV Alert
World Internet Summit
Focus Marketing Seminars

A friendly bit of advice… When you go to these seminars, don’t just go to the presentations, mix with people in the breaks and then think that’s all there is to it. The best networking will be done late into the evenings at the hotel bar. This is where the business is done. This is where you’ll meet someone who knows someone who in turns knows someone you want to be introduced to. Its all about connections and introductions, and the people you get talking to in the bar is by far the best place to get a head-start.

If you regularly attend seminars, people will get to know your face (and your name), and then people will quickly get to know what your products are, what your assets are, what connections you have etc. Don’t think of it as simply who do you know, but also who knows you. The more appearances you make, the more people will remember you and be far more responsive to any possible JV relationship.

What experiences have you had when approaching the Internet Marketing Gurus?

The phone can be the most intimidating for many marketers but has the potential to be the most effective. Now you absolutely should make sure that you are invited to call. Some of the gurus list their telephone numbers on their websites or as part of the programs they are promoting and encourage subscribers to call. Others are listed on national do not call registries that prohibit marketing via telephone. You need to make sure that you aren’t breaking laws before calling as the fines can be harsh.

What do you say when you get them on the line?

This is the most difficult for most Internet Marketers hoping to solidify a profitable Joint Venture. It is a good idea to begin by introducing yourself and letting them know why your name should be familiar.

If you have worked with others that they may know better than you this is a good time to drop names. Be careful though, they will probably check to make sure that you aren’t blowing smoke so make sure that you have the relationships you claim to have with other marketers and that they are going to be willing to speak up for you.

Build a rapport of sorts before jumping into your offer but be careful that you aren’t wasting their time. Everything comes down to time. You want to make pleasantries, make your pitch, and then allow them time to let it sink in.

It’s a good idea to have an outline of what you’d like to accomplish and a script of sorts to follow for your conversation. However, do not simply read from a script word for word as you will sound very false and just like a insurance salesman. Instead you’re better off just writing a few bullets which you can refer to as you speak off the cuff to your prospective JV partner. You’ll be amazed at how smoothly things go when you have a plan of action or how impressed they will be by this small detail. Tell them your goals, what you have to offer them, what you would like them to do for you, and give them time to think it over.

You should also be mindful of their situation at home. Some of them work at home with children and may not be able to drop everything for a phone call, especially with someone they do not know. If things seem hectic or distracted on the other end of line try scheduling a better time to call. Be persistent but don’t be pushy.

What experiences have you had using the phone to reach potential JV partners? I’d love to hear about them…
